Abstract		OUTAZWAT contains all 22 current Outstanding Arizona Waters (OAWs) statewide, as designated by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality under A.A.C. R18-11-112(G). The OAW designation is intended to afford these streams the highest protection under the U.S. Clean Water Act (CWA), and to potentially suggest more extensive reviews by ADEQ for a State Water Quality Certification (CWA Section 401 Certification). A surface water may be classified as an OAW based on the following criteria: 1) it is a perennial or intermittent water; 2) it is in a free-flowing condition; 3) it has good water quality; and 4) it meets one or both of the following conditions: a) it is of exceptional recreational or ecological significance; and/or b) an endangered or threatened species is associated with it and the existing water quality is essential to the species' maintenance and propagation or the water provides critical habitat for the species.
Known errors/qualifications		The list of OAWs is current as of June 2017. Some of the 22 OAWs consist of multiple line segments as designated by ADEQ.
