The class format is lecture/demonstration, not hands-on.

We split the class in response to many requests. You
You can attend either or both parts. We recommend
attending both morning and afternoon parts, even if you
have MapGuide experience.

REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED for this class which is
free and open to the public. Seating is limited to
approximately 70. You may want to arrive a few minutes
early to get a good seat. We do not validate parking
stubs.

Wi-Fi wireless networking will be available. Feel free
to bring your Wi-Fi enabled Windows laptop with Internet
Explorer to follow along with the lecture/demonstration.
However, this is not a "hands-on" or lab class. (Mac users
have limited MapGuide options. See "Using Autodesk MapGuide"
at http://gis.pima.gov/mapguide/) Please note:

  - We provide limited table space with power outlets.
All other laptop users must use battery power.
  - You should know how to make a Wi-Fi connection with
    your laptop.
  - Come early to set up and make the Wi-Fi connection.
Once class starts, we can't assist with your Wi-Fi
connection or your use of MapGuide on your laptop.
  - You may need to take your laptop with you over the
lunch break as we can't guarantee its security in
    the classroom.

Using MapGuide on a Windows PC with Internet Explorer, you
can view Pima County GIS (Geographic Information System) data
and maps interactively over the Internet using the Pima
County GIS web site at http://gis.pima.gov.

The class focuses on using the MapGuide Viewer with the
Pima County MapGuide maps. While many data layers
are shown and discussed, the class is not a review of
available data. We don't try to cover the larger topic
of using the Internet for Pima County research.

While the only prerequisite is experience using the web,
most of those attending will have some experience with
MapGuide. If you are new to MapGuide, it would help to go
to http://gis.pima.gov/maps/mapguide/, follow
the directions there, and see if you can get started before
the class. That way you won't be a complete beginner, will
understand some of the concepts, and will have some
questions.

Things to bring:
- If you want to follow the class outline, print it from
  http://gis.pima.gov/events/mgclass/classnotes/outline.txt
- You may want a sweater. The room can be cold.
- Feel free to bring your own refreshments. None are
provided although there are vending machines for snacks.
- Please be considerate of others who may be sensitive
  or allergic to perfume.

This is a repeat of the class we have done in the past.
