This matrix shows the operational status of all combinations of MapGuide Viewer version, Windows operating systems, and ActiveX control or plug-in Viewers. The terminology is:
Results may differ with various browser versions and/or operating Service Packs and patches. There was also a MapGuide Viewer version 5.5.1.2 which was not specifically tested. Autodesk appears to have made minor version changes without announcement or fanfare which may affect results. The MapGuide Java Edition Viewer was not evaluated on all platforms. No testing was done on Unix or Linux, although the Java Edition Viewer is known to work on supported Unix configurations and has been reported to work on certain Linux configurations.

The somewhat newer MapGuide Viewer version 6.5 SP1 resolves Internet Explorer crashes for some users,
typically when opening new windows from within MapGuide, such as double-clicking on map features.
It also introduced new bugs which prevent it from being the primary version supported by Pima County.

Due to these problems, we don't install or recommend the 6.5 SP1 version (6.5.6.11 or 6.5.6.12) by default, but we make it available to those who have consistent problems with Internet Explorer crashes. Almost without exception, users should be running the base 6.5 version (6.5.5.7) MapGuide Viewer as automatically installed when the MapGuide Viewer is installed from our web site. |
