Introduction

Welcome to the Arizona Grandfathered Groundwater Rights database! This database contains the most frequently requested information on all of the GFRs in Arizona. You can use this database to look up the location of each GFR and information about the certificate number, file status, irrigated acres, owners, and other details. The information for the GFRs is collected by the Arizona Department of Water Resources and stored in two large, complex database systems:

Type

Software

Purpose

SQL

Oracle

Stores the description of every GFR

GIS

ARC/INFO

Stores the location of every GFR

This CD-ROM product contains information from both systems that has been consolidated, simplified and merged into one large table. None of the original information has been changed; it has simply been reformatted for greater convenience and ease of use. This CD-ROM does not duplicate all of the information in the Oracle database.

How to Use This Database

This database is designed to be used with most database and GIS software.

To copy this database to your hard drive:

6.    Make a new directory called adwrgfrs just below the root level.

7.    Copy all of the files from the CD-ROM adwrgfrs directory to the new directory.

8.    Use the appropriate ArcView Project file for the drive (ie. use drive_d.apr if you have copied the files to drive D:\adwrgfrs, etc.)

All information on this CD-ROM is Copyright 2003 by the State of Arizona, Department of Water Resources. You may use and share this database freely but cannot claim or imply that this information is your own. Nor can you alter this information in any way and then claim or imply that it is ours.
