Road Maintenance Status MapGuide Layers
Road Maintenance Status in the MapGuide legend Streets group is configured as two separate layers.
The Road Maintenance IGA layer displays road segments for which their maintenance
may be subject to an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA).
Double-clicking on an Road Maintenance IGA layer street segment displays IGA documents for that segment.
The Road Maintenance Status layer has categories
indicating whether road segments are maintained by the county, are not maintained by the county,
or that have road right-of-way divided by two different jurisdictions.
In multi-jurisdiction categories, the road or right-of-way may be subject to joint jurisdictional responsibilities.
Tips For Interpreting the Data
If a roadway is subject to an IGA, review the IGA document itself for the description of
maintenance activities, since not all transportation activities are subject to the IGA, e.g. signing, permitting, etc.
- Turn on the Jurisdictions layer group to assist in determining where a road passes in and out of other jurisdictions.
E RIVER RD between N ORACLE RD and N SWAN RD is a good example of road passes in and out of another jurisdiction,
and where maintenance responsibility can change due to this.
Most of these situations are subject to a maintenance IGA.
- Turn on aerial photos (in addition to the Jurisdictions layer group) to assist in determining
jurisdictional responsibility for multi-jurisdiction roads.
In some cases, a jurisdictional boundary
encroaches only partially into road right-of-way (ROW).
The aerial photos will provide further indication as to what is actually occurring on the ground.
The Parcels layer provides additional visual information of the ROW location.
