Abstract		AG_HIST represents a "footprint" of lands across Pima County presently or formerly dedicated to agricultural production. Original boundaries were derived from 7 source document reports concerning historic agricultural land use in Pima County authored by PAG. Refinements were made to the layer in 2008 using the PAG208 "VEG1" and "VEG2" fields under the review of Julia Fonseca at PCPRNR. Known errors/qualifications		ag_hist includes interior (island) polygons that must be filtered out by selecting records where ITEM or SOURCE are not null. Agricultural use is not strictly interpreted as the tilling and cultivation of land for direct agricultural production. In some areas, most notably the Buenos Aires NWR, historic agricultural use was defined by the blading of lands and the application of herbicides to improve pasture grasses for domestic livestock. The version stored in the library previous to being updated in 2008 is archived in \\gislib\specproj\jfonseca\prk0139\\original_data Before being named AG_HIST, this layer was known as IRRIG_ALL.

Lineage		Performed UNION process to create output layer of the previous AG_HIST coverage and features from the PAG208 coverage where "VEG1 = 200-299". After review by Julia Fonseca, particular features were deleted from the updated coverage. Added new field called SOURCE to document whether features are part of PAG208 SELECT or from the original 6 source document reports concerning historic agricultural land use in Pima County authored by PAG.
